Shappell FX 100 Ice Shelter

For ice anglers who want to be fishing minutes after reaching a spot, the Shappell FX100 is a one-person flip-over shelter built around a solid, one-piece instant-flip frame — pop it up, pull it over, and you're on the fish. The tough 600-denier polyester shell shrugs off wind and hard-water abuse season after season, while side mesh windows and vents keep the interior bright and cut down on condensation. Light enough to pull by hand yet roomy enough to jig in comfort, it's a dependable, budget-friendly first shelter.

Why we recommend it: it's the easiest, most affordable way to get a beginner (or a run-and-gun angler) off the wind and onto fish without overspending.
